‘SOORA SO PEHCHANIYE’ Punjabi Play staged in Chandigarh

(Samaj Weekly)- Impact Arts, a well-known theatrical group in Chandigarh put up the two shows of the famous Punjabi Historical play “Soora So Pehchaniye’ in Chandigarh. The play was written by an eminent Punjabi writer Ravinder Singh Sodhi and directed by a renowned personality of Punjabi theatre and character actor of Punjabi films, Baninderjit Singh Bunny. In this play, the dramatist tries to depict the sacrifices of the four sons of the tenth Sikh Guru. Two Sahibzadas, Baba Ajit Singh and Baba Zujhar Singh got martyrdom while fighting with the Mughal forces at Chamkaur Sahib and the two younger ones, Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Baba Fateh Singh were bricked alive on the orders of the then Subedar of Sirhind, Wajir Khan. The first show was staged for the students of Shri Guru Gobind Singh School (Sector 35) on 26 December. The former Education Minister of Punjab, S. Daljinder Singh Cheema presided over the show. He was of the view that such Plays are the need of the hour so that our young generation should come to know about our history. He assured the director that he would try his best to arrange more shows of this play.

The second show was staged at The Randhawa Auditorium of the Punjab Kala Bhawan, Chandigarh. This show was sponsored by the Punjab Sangeet Natak Academy, Chandigarh. The audience was so impressed with the performance of the artist that they gave a standing ovation to the artists. Most of the spectators were of the view that the artists had put up a stage show of a professional level. Ravitej Singh Brar, Jatin Sachdeva, Kamaldeep Kaur, Balwinder Singh, Inderijit Singh, Neha Dhiman, Rajat Sachdeva, Sharan Bagania, Samnjit Singh, Amritpal Singh, Shivam Sharma, Ajay Chaudhary, Kawal, Danish, Parneet Kaur, Krisha we’re the artists who played different roles successfully. Music was arranged by Pushpinder Bagga, lights were operated by Sourabh and Babit, Harwinder Singh and Sumit Swami were the makeup men, and costumes were arranged by Rupinder Kaur and Sumit Swami. Jashandeep Singh, Charanjit Singh, Naveen Arora, Navdeep Bajwa and Bhawsheel Sahni gave valuable help to the artists.
