Punjabi Likhari Sabha Calgary’s thirteenth event of Punjabi speaking skills among children was successfully completed.

Calgary    (Samajweekly)   (Harjinder pal Chhabra) Davinder Malhans- Punjabi Likhari Sabha Calgary’s annual event of speaking Punjabi among children, started with a huge gathering of audience at Whitehorn Community Hall. The General Secretary of Punjabi Likhari Sabha Davinder Malhans invited President Ranjit Singh, writer Baljinder Sangha and Dr. Baljinder Sangh to sit in the chairmanship board in the echo of applause of the audience. Paramjit Kaur was invited and welcomed the audience. The program started with the national anthem ‘O Canada’. Vice President Jorawar shed light on 27 years of history and performance of Punjabi Likhari Sabha Calgary. Baljinder Sangha made the children aware of the things they have to take care of during the competition. Narendra Gill, Mandeep Toor and Harpreet Singh Gill played the role of judge in the first part. 25 students of first and second classes participated in this session. Little children did amazing presentations in mother tongue Punjabi. The girls of YYC Gidha and Folk Academy under the leadership of Mandeep Toor put a very good Gidha. Service of judges in the second group, Seema Chatha, Sandeep Sandiora and Mandeep Toor performed. Tarlochan Sahembi presented a very good song dedicated to mother tongue Punjabi. Fifth and sixth class students participated in the third part. In which the role of Judge Sahibans is Gurpreet Kaur Red. F. From M.To, Sivleen Kaur Jassar from Radio Sur Sangam and performed by Sukhmandar Gill. Mahendarpal Singh Paul attended with beautiful ghazals. Saloni Gotham shared her expression of affection towards mother tongue.
In the fourth group in which seventh and eighth grade students participated, their judgement is Dr. Sarabjit Kaur Jawanda, E. Jeer Singh Brar and Sukhwinder Singh Toor did. Davinder Malhans announced the results. Harasis Kaur, Japuji Kaur Brar and Nimrat Kaur were the winners in the first part. In the second part, Sahibpreet Singh, Hargun Kaur Virk and Samaira Chauhan were the winners. In the third part, Guneev Kaur Gill, Prabhanur Singh and Sidak Singh Grewal won. Nimrat Kaur, Sahaj Singh Gill and Harsirat Kaur won in the fourth group respectively. These winning children were honored with trophies. Each participating child was encouraged with medals. While sharing his views, he fully appreciated this work of Punjabi Likhari Sabha Calgary. In addition to them, Gurpreet Kaur, Sukhvir Singh Grewal, Rajinder Kaur Chohka and Gurpreet kaur Ladal shared their views. All the executive members performed their responsibility very diligently. Balveer Gora on the sound system, Tarlochan Sahembi and Mangal Chatha took the responsibility of lining up the children and taking them to the stage. Sukhjit Simran with Judge Sahibans, Jagtar Jagraon and Jorawar photographed. Gurlal Singh Rupalo performed the service of tea and water with his family.
Rishi Nagar, Chand Singh Sandiora, Harcharan Singh Parhar, Jasjit Singh Dhami, Ranjit Singh Sidhu, Saivedu Sharma and Paramjit Singh Bhangu made their presence from media. Apart from others Surinder Sharma, Jasvir Singh Sihota, Gurdish Kaur Grewal, Sunny Swach, Bhola Singh Chauhan, Manjot Singh Gill and Baljit Singh Pandher etc were present. The situation was full of chaos. It was a very successful event. At last President Ranjit Singh thanked all including the media and the judges. Shared information about the next monthly meeting which will be held on July 18, 2026 at Koso Hall.
