Readers are being encouraged to sign up to the annual Forget-Me-Not-Walk which takes place at Beale Wildlife Park next month. The charity walk, organised by Sue Ryder, the charity, and sponsored by Balfour Beatty, the construction giant, aims to raise vital funds to provide care for those in most need. The 10km or 5km (with a fun children’s trail) walk, which takes place on May 12, will go through secluded woodland and pass along the grassy banks of the River Thames.
The charity, founded in 1953 by Sue Ryder, a humanitarian dedicated to the relief of suffering, supports people with complex needs and life-threatening illnesses across the UK, globally too. Chris Hall, Project Manager, Balfour Beatty, said:“We first got involved with the Sue Ryder Charity in 2017 while working with Wokingham Borough Council under our Scape Framework; volunteering at a low level in the local day hospice but the passion and commitment we saw in the Sue Ryder teams soon encouraged us to do more. This will be our second year supporting the Forget-Me-Not Walk and we are looking forward to it being bigger and better than ever at its new Beale Park location.
