SULAKHAN SINGH DARD GIVEN OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION AWARD
Sulakhan Singh Dard of Leicester was awarded with the Outstanding Contribution Award 2018 at the BHF Heart Hero Awards on 5th October at a special ceremony at the Globe Theatre, London. The special award was presented to Sulakhan Singh by
Chief Executive of BHF Simon Gillespie and TV Personality Dr. Hilary Jones.
Since he had a heart attack about 18 years ago Sulakhan Singh has been a huge advocate for the BHF and supports them in so many different areas of the organisation. He has been an essential part of BHF’s Patient Information Panel helping them save a grand total of £124,000. Sulakhan Singh also keeps up to date with BHF’s latest key messages so that he can raise awareness about important heart health issues.
In their latest Heart Hero Awards magazine the BHF points out that it is proud to say that Sulakhan Singh is one volunteer whom they consider to personify the BHF values. Sulakhan Singh was nominated for this prestigious award by Amy Corkery who is the BHF’s Editor of Patient Information Manager.
After receiving the Heart Hero Award, Sulakhan Singh commented “ BHF medical research saved my life when I had a heart attack in 2000. Since that day I made up my mind to repay them and raise awareness in the South Asian Community which has a greater rate of Coronary Heart Disease and Diabetes than any other community.
I feel very proud to receive such an honourable award from the BHF and will carry on the voluntary work as long as possible. This has all been possible with the
