133rd Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s birth anniversary celebration by FABO UK

(SAMAJ WEEKLY)- The Federation of Ambedkarite and Buddhist Organisations (FABO UK) collaborated in partnership with HCI (High Commission of India) to celebrate 133rd Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s birth anniversary at London.

The programme commenced with a floral tribute to Dr. Babasaheb at the Ambedkar Museum by His Excellency Shri Sujit Ghosh, Acting High Commissioner, and the office bearers of FABO in the afternoon.

Subsequently, at 3 PM, the guests participated in the program hosted by the High Commissioner of India at the Ambedkar Hall, India House, Aldwych, London. The gathering commenced with the National Anthem of India. High commission’s Minister of Co-ordination Shri Deepak Choudhary welcomed the guests, followed by floral tributes by the dignitaries to the Babasaheb statue in the Ambedkar Hall. An audio-visual film was played depicting the life of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, created by the High Commission. This audio-video presentation served as a poignant tribute, providing insights into the remarkable journey and contributions of Dr. Ambedkar to the upliftment of society. Later a audio visual message by His Excellency Vikram Doraiswamy, High Commissioner giving his wishes on the occasion was played.
A group of students recited the Bhim Stuti and Bhim Smaran.

The program commenced with a speech by Ms. Monika Mendiratta, who lauded Babasaheb’s contributions to women empowerment and education. She emphasized the importance of experiential learning in becoming the best version of oneself by following Babasaheb as a role model.

Following Ms. Mendiratta’s speech, FABO office bearers, Mr. Ram Pal Rahi, President, and Mr. Pankaj Shamkunwar, General Secretary of FABO UK, shared their insights. Mr. Shamkunwar highlighted Babasaheb’s multidimensional personality as an expert in public finance, urging academicians and students to research four qualities of Dr. Ambedkar: his evolved brain and intellect, uncompromised honesty, unimaginable untiring efforts, and strategic and clear thinking.

Mr. Shamkunwar urged all those present to reflect on the profound impact of Babasaheb’s teachings, embodying his values and principles to strive for a more inclusive and equitable society. Shri Ravindra Kulkarni, Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University, supported Mr. Shamkunwar’s points with evidence presented before the Hilton Young (Royal Commission), which led to the conception and establishment of the Reserve Bank of India.

His Excellency Shri Sujit Ghost, Acting High Commissioner, paid tribute to Babasaheb’s contributions to Indian democracy and highlighted his social and economic contributions to the welfare of the country. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Deepak Chaudhary, Minister of Coordination, High Commission of India.
